Stay at: La Granja, Ibiza, Spain

April 26, 2017

Nestled in the heart of Spain's party capital, La Granja — part of the Design Hotels™ collection — couldn't be further from the island's pulsing nightlife reputation.

Unscathed by the heavy-hand of commercial tourism, La Granja is the authentic Ibiza — not only from its alluring views, but from its whole-hearted sense of family, community and its binding connection to the land.

This is Design Hotels’ pioneer property that uses a members-only model, boasting a healthy 10-hectare farmstead that envelops a century-old farmhouse. The freestanding jewel of the estate houses nine-guest rooms, kitchen-space and casts shadow over the clear waters of a pool. Rooms vary in size and come embellished with rustic farm-like fittings made of wood, stone and slate. Terrace rooms offer a private garden and a incomparable view of an Ibizan sunset.

Adjacent to the house stands a guest house, accommodating of up to five people — the perfect retreat for parties of friends and family.

La Granja revolves around a series of communal affirming rituals. These are led by the Friends of a Farmer organisation — a creative, international alliance dedicated to the cultivation of arts and agriculture; enhancing the sustainability of Ibiza's ecosystems, water sources and renewable energies. These 'rituals' are inspired and fuelled by progressive thinking, combining elements of dancing, dining and discussion. This is a place that not only provides its guests with an original take on agricultural-tourism, but is built around an ethos that sustainably benefits the surrounding community long into the future.
