Modular magnetic lamp

$120

We love the concept of the lamps designed and produced by Plato Design in Rome, Italy. Architects Alessandro Mattei and Caterina Naglieri came up with the D-TWELVE lamp — a magnetic lamp designed to adapt to your changing needs — and in 2016 received the backing they needed to create it on Kickstarter.

You can use each lamp by itself, or combine it with other lamps by attaching them to its magnetised sides. You can then rotate the lamps into different positions to direct the light to where you need it. And thanks to the fact that it is magnetised on three sides, it can be attached to any metallic surface.

This lamp is made from concrete to form an ultra thin shell (other materials available are beechwood and screen-printed fabric).

Root Indoor Garden System

$699

The price tag might knock you off your seat, but this is a product that aims to ultimately save you money in the long run, and reduce waste. The hydroponic garden system gives you space to grow 12 plants in the space of just one square foot. You can grow organic herbs, leafy greens, flowers, and medicinal plants in your home, or workspace, whilst adding some greenery to your space in the process. The company uses organic, non-GMO seeds and nutrients, biodegradable plant pods and food grade plastic, and if you pre-order now you can make the most of Root's offer of $100 off retail price and free shipping.

Standing Coffee Measuring Spoon

$40.00

This standing wooden coffee scoop aims to make the coffee making ritual more special. Designed by Japanese designer Masaharu Asano, the scoop holds 50 grams of coffee and is made from Japanese white ash wood.

We found this gem on Spoon & Tamago, a website which celebrates Japanese art and design. The team even travels to Japan to meet with every designer or company that creates the products they carry.

Mechanical Pencil

$120

This solid metal pencil was created by Andrew Sanderson. He's a man on a mission to make a mechanical pencil for design work that has heirloom-quality and looks beautiful, and it looks like he's succeeded with this line of mechanical pencils, which are available to pre-order on Kickstarter.

The pencils are available in stainless steel, copper, or bronze and are machined from one piece of solid metal for strength and durability.
