We’re big fans of all things letterpress, but the nature of this hands-on printing technology and the manual set-up involved usually means that one-off prints are too laborious to produce. Life & Type is attempting to change that by providing a simple, elegant way to create custom, high-quality, typographic art prints.

The brainchild of designer Daniel Richardson, Life & Type works by asking users to visit the website, pick a template, and fill out a form, at which point they receive a digital proof of the print to review. Once approved, the one-of-a-kind print is set and pulled by hand on Daniel’s custom-built, large-format, letterpress machine.
